HANDS

Photography by Gary Schneider
Writings by Lynne Tillman

Gary Schneider has, over a period of many years, accumulated his most essential, defining collection of photographs on the subject of hands: singular, elegant, beautiful, questioning. In aggregate they have an uncommon intimacy, evoke emotion, curiosity, and surprise, offering a startling and revealing look at abstract, yet deeply psychological portraits of individuals. Lynne Tillman contributes a series of short, ethereal texts that are woven throughout the work-bite-sized original writings that complement the images.

HANDS will be published in May 2001 as an impressive, lavish monograph, printed in tritone as a specially bound edition of 96 pages and a deluxe limited edition of 150 copies, containing a signed and editioned silver gelatin print.
