Umbrage offers each semester a paid part-time internship to one or two highly qualified college students or recent graduates. The job description involves a wide variety of activities, including general writing, library and other research on new titles, picture research, sequencing and layout, caption and flap copy creation, printing and production liaising, as well as general office work, including phone, typing, errands and xeroxing.

This is a unique opportunity to get directly involved with the publishing world of New York City and to experience the challenging and stimulating working environment of a small, non-hierarchal, succesful and prestigious company.

We require a commitment of a minimum of three days per week. The ideal applicant will have excellent writing, researching, and editing skills; be comfortable negotiating on the phone; be proficient on the computer with standard word processing and programs; and be interested in publishing as a possible career path.
